再怎麼仁慈的行為，依然無法馴服凶惡的本性

出處：伊索寓言

‧小小啟發：

愚公可以移山，卻難改變一個人的本性。

‧故事內容：

ㄧ隻母雞發現一些蛇的蛋 （A hen found some serpent's eggs） 牠孵化這些蛋 （which she hatched）靠著小心翼翼地坐在上頭，幫牠們保暖 （by carefully sitting on them and keeping them warm） ㄧ隻看到這種狀況的燕子說（A swallow which had watched her said）你這傻瓜 （You fool） 你為什麼要扶養這些生物 （why do you rear creatures）一旦牠們長大 （that once they grow up）會讓你成為牠們不當行為的受害者（will make you the first victim of their evildoing）

甚至是最仁慈的對待（Even the kindest treatment）也無法馴服殘酷的本性 （cannot tame a savage nature）

‧英文原文：

A hen found some serpent's eggs, which she hatched by carefully sitting on them and keeping them warm. A swallow which had watched her said: " You fool, why do you rear creatures that, once they grow up, will make you the first victim of their evildoing?"

Even the kindest treatment cannot tame a savage nature. 


‧譯文：

有一隻母雞發現了幾顆蛇蛋，就小心翼翼地坐在上頭，幫牠們保溫。有隻燕子看到了，就對母雞說：「你這笨蛋，為什麼要孵這些蛋呢？一旦牠們長大了，你就會是牠們邪惡本性下，第一個被犧牲的人。」
